Scope of Work & What's Included

Our approach to ranch & farm gates in Gridley and surrounding counties covers every detail from initial property measurement and underground utility clearance through laser alignment and site cleanup:

Field access survey, machinery turning radius clearance, and Kansas 811 utility locates
Heavy-wall 4-inch Schedule 40 steel pipe or 8-inch round treated timber hinge posts set 42 inches deep
Heavy 14-to-16-gauge tubular steel farm gates or custom welded oilfield pipe gate leaves
H-brace anchoring assemblies engineered to absorb heavy cantilever gate loads without tilting
Heavy-duty adjustable J-bolt or greaseable weld-on barrel hinges and cattle-proof slam latches
Complete swing leveling, ground clearance calibration, and final farmstead walkthrough

Kansas Ground & Weather Considerations

Farmers and ranchers across Coffey, Lyon, and Greenwood counties regularly struggle with sagging tube gates dragging through mud, broken wire loops that let cattle nudge gates open, and flimsy hinge posts that lean inward after single seasons. Bent farm gates create frustrating livestock bottlenecks during winter feeding. Our reinforced ranch gate systems swing smoothly with one hand year-round.

Our Proven Installation & Build Process

1
1. Equipment & Herd Flow Survey: We measure machinery clearances (14 to 24-foot widths) and evaluate cattle flow to design ideal gateway placements.
2
2. Deep H-Brace Hinge Post Anchoring: Sinking 4-inch pipe or 8-inch treated posts 42 inches into subsoil and tying into structural H-braces with tensioned cables.
3
3. Gate Leaf Selection & Fabrication: Fabricating custom coped pipe gates or hanging heavy 6-rail galvanized high-tensile tubular corral gates.
4
4. Heavy Hinge Mounting: Installing adjustable threaded J-bolts or welding heavy barrel hinges to provide easy plumb adjustment if soil shifts.
5
5. Latch & Lock Installation: Fitting two-way livestock slam latches, pad-lockable chains, center ground cane bolts, or automated solar openers.
6
6. Swing Calibration & Final Inspection: Testing full 180-degree swing travel, verifying latch alignment, and conducting magnetic site sweeps.

Cost Factors & Pricing

Ranch gate installation investments depend on gate span (single 12 to 16-foot vs. double 20 to 24-foot machinery crossings), gate type (tubular steel vs. custom welded drill-stem pipe), overhead entrance sign additions, and automated operator accessories.

Permits & Utility Locates

Installations adhere to Kansas legal fence standards (K.S.A. 29-105) regarding secure pasture closures, county road setback requirements for off-road vehicle staging, and underground utility clearance rules.

Kansas Communities Served for Ranch & Farm Gates

Our Gridley-based crews provide on-site consultations, underground Kansas 811 utility mark coordination, and complete ranch & farm gates across East-Central Kansas:

Coffey County, KS: Our home county: John Redmond Reservoir, Coffey County Lake (Wolf Creek's cooling lake) and Neosho River bottoms mean many fence lines sit on wet, flood-prone ground.
Burlington, KS: Coffey County seat on the Neosho River just below John Redmond Dam; older homes on low ground near the river need posts set for wet soils.
Yates Center, KS: Woodson County seat with a historic courthouse square; aging homes in town and surrounding cattle pasture mean wood privacy repairs inside town and barbed-wire rebuilds outside.
Lebo, KS: Lebo, just off I-35 in northern Coffey County near Melvern Lake, has commuter homes plus farmsteads where split-rail and chain-link line the highway frontage.
Madison, KS: Madison, at the Greenwood County line west of Gridley, is gateway Flint Hills ranch country where pipe fence, barbed wire and corral work dominate.
Olpe, KS: Olpe, south of Emporia on K-99, is surrounded by row-crop and cattle ground; farmstead pens and livestock lots drive woven-wire and pipe fence work.
LeRoy, KS: LeRoy sits in a Neosho River bend southeast of Gridley; small-town lots back onto cropland, so chain-link and woven-wire pet and garden fences are common.
New Strawn, KS: New Strawn was built after the old Strawn townsite was flooded for John Redmond Reservoir; its newer homes sit near Coffey County Lake and Wolf Creek.
Hartford, KS: Hartford borders the Flint Hills National Wildlife Refuge at John Redmond's upper end; refuge-edge farms need deer-resistant garden fence and flood-ready posts.
Neosho Rapids, KS: Neosho Rapids sits on the Neosho River between Emporia and Hartford; river-bottom farms see flood debris load fences, so H-braces and steel posts hold up best.

“Brandon with Kraft Fencing went above and beyond to repair my fence that had been broken due to poor design by another company. He answered my call and gave me a quote within a day and was out here two days later. Brandon worked very hard in the hottest part of the day to make sure everything was perfect. I would recommend him to anyone that needs a fence built or repaired. Thank you Kraft Fencing.”

“Casey and Roman Kraft did a cedar fence rebuild for my wife and I in December of '25. Our original fence was over 20 years old and in bad need of replacement. Casey came to my house on a Sunday to measure the property and discuss our plans. He got us the bid that evening. His price was extremely competitive and his reviews online were stellar. The days Kraft Fencing committed to build were the 2 rainiest days in December. There were flash flood warnings posted on both of those days and still, Casey and Roman showed up and went to work. I felt bad but they had top notch rain gear and smiles on their faces. They and their crew showed up at 7:30am both days and just got after the job. The craftsmanship is very impressive. They use screws instead of nails, the posts are beefier than the standard 4x4 post, and they use clear cedar in all the wood work except for the posts. The most impressive thing we experiened with Casey and his company was how he and his crew responded to a mistake that was made. He listened to our concern, gave us a few options to rectify the mistake, made sure both my wife and I would be happy with the work around, and then went about his business and made it right (without any additional charge). What a fantastic business he runs and what an ethical guy he is. I give him a 10/10 recommendation if you are looking to get a new fence installed. Brendan H. Great price”

“Kraft fencing did a great job installing our aluminum fence. It was a big job and a difficult yard to fence, as there were multiple changes in elevation. However, the fence looks great, and it was completed quickly. 10/10 recommend”

Response from Brandon Kraft (Owner):

“Thanks so much, Christopher! I’m so glad that you are pleased with your fence!”
