Scope of Work & What's Included

Our approach to fence staining & sealing in Gridley and surrounding counties covers every detail from initial property measurement and underground utility clearance through laser alignment and site cleanup:

Moisture testing and surface inspection evaluating wood grain condition and old coating compatibility
Low-pressure eco-friendly chemical wash removing mold, mildew, and gray oxidized wood fibers
Wood brightening treatment restoring wood pH and opening natural cedar pores for stain absorption
High-volume low-pressure (HVLP) application of commercial deep-penetrating oil-based stains
Hand-brushing and back-rolling pickets, rails, and post caps for uniform saturation without runs
Thorough overspray protection for turf, siding, and shrubs, followed by final inspection

Kansas Ground & Weather Considerations

Unsealed wood fences across Coffey County deteriorate rapidly under intense summer UV radiation, turning silvery-gray, drying out, and developing deep surface checks within two years. Winter rain and snow melt soak into unprotected grain, freezing and splitting backer rails from the inside out. Our deep-penetrating oil stains replenish vital wood oils to prevent checking and rot.

Our Proven Installation & Build Process

1
1. Moisture & Wood Assessment: We measure wood moisture content (must test under 15%) and inspect grain integrity across all exposures.
2
2. Soft Wash & Mold Removal: Applying gentle oxygenated cleaners to eliminate fungal growth and gray dead wood cells without gouging soft wood grain.
3
3. Neutralizing & Brightening: Spraying a citrus-based brightening agent that restores cedar's natural golden tones and balances wood pH.
4
4. Thorough Drying Window: Allowing 48 to 72 hours of dry weather so wood fibers can accept maximum stain penetration deep into core pores.
5
5. Penetrating Oil Application: Spraying and back-rolling premium non-film-forming penetrating oil stain that conditions wood without peeling.
6
6. Cleanup & Protection Removal: Pulling all drop cloths, inspecting property lines, and completing owner walkthrough.

Cost Factors & Pricing

Fence staining costs in East-Central Kansas are calculated by total square footage (both sides of fence), wood condition (light wash vs. heavy multi-stage restoration), stain formulation (transparent vs. semi-transparent pigmented oil), and vegetation shielding requirements.

Permits & Utility Locates

Fence staining does not require municipal permits. We strictly use EPA-compliant, low-VOC exterior penetrating stains that are safe for nearby vegetable gardens, family pets, and pasture livestock.

Why Property Owners Choose Kraft Fencing

Founded in 2022 by Brandon Kraft, Kraft Fencing, LLC never uses cheap latex paints or film-forming deck stains that peel and blister into a flaking mess. We apply true penetrating oils that condition wood fibers and make future maintenance effortless, backed by 58 verified reviews.

Kansas Communities Served for Fence Staining & Sealing

Our Gridley-based crews provide on-site consultations, underground Kansas 811 utility mark coordination, and complete fence staining & sealing across East-Central Kansas:

Coffey County, KS: Our home county: John Redmond Reservoir, Coffey County Lake (Wolf Creek's cooling lake) and Neosho River bottoms mean many fence lines sit on wet, flood-prone ground.
Burlington, KS: Coffey County seat on the Neosho River just below John Redmond Dam; older homes on low ground near the river need posts set for wet soils.
Yates Center, KS: Woodson County seat with a historic courthouse square; aging homes in town and surrounding cattle pasture mean wood privacy repairs inside town and barbed-wire rebuilds outside.
Lebo, KS: Lebo, just off I-35 in northern Coffey County near Melvern Lake, has commuter homes plus farmsteads where split-rail and chain-link line the highway frontage.
Madison, KS: Madison, at the Greenwood County line west of Gridley, is gateway Flint Hills ranch country where pipe fence, barbed wire and corral work dominate.
Olpe, KS: Olpe, south of Emporia on K-99, is surrounded by row-crop and cattle ground; farmstead pens and livestock lots drive woven-wire and pipe fence work.
LeRoy, KS: LeRoy sits in a Neosho River bend southeast of Gridley; small-town lots back onto cropland, so chain-link and woven-wire pet and garden fences are common.
New Strawn, KS: New Strawn was built after the old Strawn townsite was flooded for John Redmond Reservoir; its newer homes sit near Coffey County Lake and Wolf Creek.
Hartford, KS: Hartford borders the Flint Hills National Wildlife Refuge at John Redmond's upper end; refuge-edge farms need deer-resistant garden fence and flood-ready posts.
Neosho Rapids, KS: Neosho Rapids sits on the Neosho River between Emporia and Hartford; river-bottom farms see flood debris load fences, so H-braces and steel posts hold up best.

Fence Staining & Sealing Questions Answered

We recommend resealing every 3 to 5 years for semi-transparent oil-based stains, and every 2 to 3 years for clear sealers. South- and west-facing fence lines absorb intense Flint Hills sun exposure and generally require maintenance earlier than shaded northern runs.

“Brandon with Kraft Fencing went above and beyond to repair my fence that had been broken due to poor design by another company. He answered my call and gave me a quote within a day and was out here two days later. Brandon worked very hard in the hottest part of the day to make sure everything was perfect. I would recommend him to anyone that needs a fence built or repaired. Thank you Kraft Fencing.”

“Casey and Roman Kraft did a cedar fence rebuild for my wife and I in December of '25. Our original fence was over 20 years old and in bad need of replacement. Casey came to my house on a Sunday to measure the property and discuss our plans. He got us the bid that evening. His price was extremely competitive and his reviews online were stellar. The days Kraft Fencing committed to build were the 2 rainiest days in December. There were flash flood warnings posted on both of those days and still, Casey and Roman showed up and went to work. I felt bad but they had top notch rain gear and smiles on their faces. They and their crew showed up at 7:30am both days and just got after the job. The craftsmanship is very impressive. They use screws instead of nails, the posts are beefier than the standard 4x4 post, and they use clear cedar in all the wood work except for the posts. The most impressive thing we experiened with Casey and his company was how he and his crew responded to a mistake that was made. He listened to our concern, gave us a few options to rectify the mistake, made sure both my wife and I would be happy with the work around, and then went about his business and made it right (without any additional charge). What a fantastic business he runs and what an ethical guy he is. I give him a 10/10 recommendation if you are looking to get a new fence installed. Brendan H. Great price”

“Kraft fencing did a great job installing our aluminum fence. It was a big job and a difficult yard to fence, as there were multiple changes in elevation. However, the fence looks great, and it was completed quickly. 10/10 recommend”

Response from Brandon Kraft (Owner):

“Thanks so much, Christopher! I’m so glad that you are pleased with your fence!”
