Scope of Work & What's Included

Our approach to woven wire field fence in Gridley and surrounding counties covers every detail from initial property measurement and underground utility clearance through laser alignment and site cleanup:

Perimeter fence line boundary layout, creek crossing evaluation, and Kansas 811 utility clearance
Heavy-duty 12.5-gauge Class 3 galvanized fixed-knot or hinge-joint woven wire rolls
Driven 2-7/8 inch oilfield pipe or 6-inch treated wood H-brace assemblies at all corners and gates
Heavy 1.33 lb/ft studded steel T-posts driven every 12 to 16 feet with steel wire clip fasteners
Single or double top strands of 4-point barbed or electric wire preventing livestock leaning
Complete hydraulic stretcher tensioning, mechanical knot crimping, and final perimeter walkthrough

Kansas Ground & Weather Considerations

Livestock producers throughout Coffey and Woodson counties face recurring fence breaks when cattle push through standard 4-strand barbed wire to graze ditches, or coyotes and dogs slip under loose pasture wire to attack sheep and calves. Standard hinge-joint wire often sags and balls up when hit by running stock. Our high-tensile fixed-knot fences withstand direct impacts and hold tight.

Our Proven Installation & Build Process

1
1. Boundary Clearing & Grade Planning: We clear heavy brush, map terrain contours, identify low draws, and verify underground utilities via Kansas 811.
2
2. Anchor & Corner H-Brace Setting: Sinking heavy pipe or treated posts 42 inches into the ground with cross-tied tension cables to anchor heavy woven wire tension.
3
3. Line Post Driving: Driving heavy-gauge steel T-posts to consistent laser depth on 12-to-16-foot centers to support fabric weight without bowing.
4
4. Fabric Unrolling & Stretcher Tensioning: Clamping woven wire with hydraulic pull bars and tensioning until wire crimps flatten halfway according to factory specs.
5
5. Line Post Fastening: Securing horizontal wires to every T-post with heavy galvanized clips, ensuring wire can slide freely during temperature changes.
6
6. Top Wire & Water Gap Installation: Stringing top barbed strands, building break-away water gaps across drainage swales, and conducting final inspection.

Cost Factors & Pricing

Woven wire fence installation costs in East-Central Kansas vary depending on wire style (economy hinge-joint vs. lifetime fixed-knot), overall height (typically 47 inches for pasture, 96 inches for deer exclusion), post spacing, terrain brush clearing, and corner brace construction.

Permits & Utility Locates

All pasture and perimeter installations comply with Kansas legal fence statutes (K.S.A. Chapter 29), Coffey County partition fence responsibilities between adjoining landowners, and local utility safety clearance guidelines.

Kansas Communities Served for Woven Wire Field Fence

Our Gridley-based crews provide on-site consultations, underground Kansas 811 utility mark coordination, and complete woven wire field fence across East-Central Kansas:

Coffey County, KS: Our home county: John Redmond Reservoir, Coffey County Lake (Wolf Creek's cooling lake) and Neosho River bottoms mean many fence lines sit on wet, flood-prone ground.
Burlington, KS: Coffey County seat on the Neosho River just below John Redmond Dam; older homes on low ground near the river need posts set for wet soils.
Yates Center, KS: Woodson County seat with a historic courthouse square; aging homes in town and surrounding cattle pasture mean wood privacy repairs inside town and barbed-wire rebuilds outside.
Lebo, KS: Lebo, just off I-35 in northern Coffey County near Melvern Lake, has commuter homes plus farmsteads where split-rail and chain-link line the highway frontage.
Madison, KS: Madison, at the Greenwood County line west of Gridley, is gateway Flint Hills ranch country where pipe fence, barbed wire and corral work dominate.
Olpe, KS: Olpe, south of Emporia on K-99, is surrounded by row-crop and cattle ground; farmstead pens and livestock lots drive woven-wire and pipe fence work.
LeRoy, KS: LeRoy sits in a Neosho River bend southeast of Gridley; small-town lots back onto cropland, so chain-link and woven-wire pet and garden fences are common.
New Strawn, KS: New Strawn was built after the old Strawn townsite was flooded for John Redmond Reservoir; its newer homes sit near Coffey County Lake and Wolf Creek.
Hartford, KS: Hartford borders the Flint Hills National Wildlife Refuge at John Redmond's upper end; refuge-edge farms need deer-resistant garden fence and flood-ready posts.
Neosho Rapids, KS: Neosho Rapids sits on the Neosho River between Emporia and Hartford; river-bottom farms see flood debris load fences, so H-braces and steel posts hold up best.

Woven Wire Field Fence Questions Answered

Fixed-knot wire utilizes a separate steel knot wrapped tightly around continuous vertical and horizontal wires, preventing vertical stays from sliding under impact. It holds shape under heavy livestock crowding and allows wider post spacing compared to flexible hinge-joint wire.

“Brandon with Kraft Fencing went above and beyond to repair my fence that had been broken due to poor design by another company. He answered my call and gave me a quote within a day and was out here two days later. Brandon worked very hard in the hottest part of the day to make sure everything was perfect. I would recommend him to anyone that needs a fence built or repaired. Thank you Kraft Fencing.”

“Casey and Roman Kraft did a cedar fence rebuild for my wife and I in December of '25. Our original fence was over 20 years old and in bad need of replacement. Casey came to my house on a Sunday to measure the property and discuss our plans. He got us the bid that evening. His price was extremely competitive and his reviews online were stellar. The days Kraft Fencing committed to build were the 2 rainiest days in December. There were flash flood warnings posted on both of those days and still, Casey and Roman showed up and went to work. I felt bad but they had top notch rain gear and smiles on their faces. They and their crew showed up at 7:30am both days and just got after the job. The craftsmanship is very impressive. They use screws instead of nails, the posts are beefier than the standard 4x4 post, and they use clear cedar in all the wood work except for the posts. The most impressive thing we experiened with Casey and his company was how he and his crew responded to a mistake that was made. He listened to our concern, gave us a few options to rectify the mistake, made sure both my wife and I would be happy with the work around, and then went about his business and made it right (without any additional charge). What a fantastic business he runs and what an ethical guy he is. I give him a 10/10 recommendation if you are looking to get a new fence installed. Brendan H. Great price”

“Kraft fencing did a great job installing our aluminum fence. It was a big job and a difficult yard to fence, as there were multiple changes in elevation. However, the fence looks great, and it was completed quickly. 10/10 recommend”

Response from Brandon Kraft (Owner):

“Thanks so much, Christopher! I’m so glad that you are pleased with your fence!”
