Scope of Work & What's Included

Our approach to livestock fence breach repair in Gridley and surrounding counties covers every detail from initial property measurement and underground utility clearance through laser alignment and site cleanup:

Emergency pasture perimeter assessment and livestock containment gap locating
Rapid deployment of heavy steel livestock panels and temporary electric poly-wire lines
Driving heavy steel T-posts and 2-7/8 inch pipe emergency inline braces
Splicing severed 12.5-gauge high-tensile barbed wire and woven wire with crimp sleeves and come-alongs
Reconstructing breakaway creek water gaps using flood-rated cables and weighted swing panels
Verifying total line tension to prevent further cattle pressure escapes

Kansas Ground & Weather Considerations

When cattle escape onto a rural highway, every minute counts to prevent vehicle collisions and livestock loss. Flash flooding along the Neosho and Verdigris rivers washes out water gaps, leaving 30-foot holes in pasture perimeters. Fallen oak limbs, snapped hedge posts, or aggressive bulls drop wire strands in an instant. Ranchers cannot wait days for scheduled contractors while cattle roam free. We provide rapid emergency containment and durable water gap reconstruction built for working ranches.

Our Proven Installation & Build Process

1
1. Emergency Call & Dispatch: Assessing herd status, boundary breach location, and dispatching equipped ranch trucks.
2
2. Immediate Breach Containment: Erecting continuous steel corral panels across the gap to keep cattle off roads.
3
3. Mechanical Wire Stretching: Hooking come-alongs to snapped barbed wire strands and splicing with heavy-gauge sleeves.
4
4. Structural Post Driving: Driving heavy steel pipe or studded T-posts into stable ground to anchor wire tension.
5
5. Water Gap Reconstruction: Hanging flexible breakaway swing gates designed to swing with floodwater and drop shut.
6
6. Final Tension Check: Testing tension across entire boundary run and inspecting adjacent corners.

Cost Factors & Pricing

Emergency livestock fence repair costs in Gridley and Coffey County depend on travel distance to remote pasture pastures, length of damaged wire run, and severity of creek bed washout. Requirements for heavy skid-steer post drivers, specialized water gap cables, and immediate temporary panel staging also affect billing. We provide clear, itemized invoices suitable for farm liability records.

Permits & Utility Locates

Emergency livestock containment repairs proceed under urgent safety exemptions. Kansas livestock containment laws (K.S.A. Chapter 47) require owners to prevent domestic animals from running at large on public roads, creating civil liability for unattended breaches. Kansas partition fence statutes (K.S.A. Chapter 29) govern cost sharing between adjoining landowners. Kraft Fencing carries full commercial liability insurance.

Kansas Communities Served for Livestock Fence Breach Repair

Our Gridley-based crews provide on-site consultations, underground Kansas 811 utility mark coordination, and complete livestock fence breach repair across East-Central Kansas:

Coffey County, KS: Our home county: John Redmond Reservoir, Coffey County Lake (Wolf Creek's cooling lake) and Neosho River bottoms mean many fence lines sit on wet, flood-prone ground.
Burlington, KS: Coffey County seat on the Neosho River just below John Redmond Dam; older homes on low ground near the river need posts set for wet soils.
Yates Center, KS: Woodson County seat with a historic courthouse square; aging homes in town and surrounding cattle pasture mean wood privacy repairs inside town and barbed-wire rebuilds outside.
Lebo, KS: Lebo, just off I-35 in northern Coffey County near Melvern Lake, has commuter homes plus farmsteads where split-rail and chain-link line the highway frontage.
Madison, KS: Madison, at the Greenwood County line west of Gridley, is gateway Flint Hills ranch country where pipe fence, barbed wire and corral work dominate.
Olpe, KS: Olpe, south of Emporia on K-99, is surrounded by row-crop and cattle ground; farmstead pens and livestock lots drive woven-wire and pipe fence work.
LeRoy, KS: LeRoy sits in a Neosho River bend southeast of Gridley; small-town lots back onto cropland, so chain-link and woven-wire pet and garden fences are common.
New Strawn, KS: New Strawn was built after the old Strawn townsite was flooded for John Redmond Reservoir; its newer homes sit near Coffey County Lake and Wolf Creek.
Hartford, KS: Hartford borders the Flint Hills National Wildlife Refuge at John Redmond's upper end; refuge-edge farms need deer-resistant garden fence and flood-ready posts.
Neosho Rapids, KS: Neosho Rapids sits on the Neosho River between Emporia and Hartford; river-bottom farms see flood debris load fences, so H-braces and steel posts hold up best.

“Casey and Roman Kraft did a cedar fence rebuild for my wife and I in December of '25. Our original fence was over 20 years old and in bad need of replacement. Casey came to my house on a Sunday to measure the property and discuss our plans. He got us the bid that evening. His price was extremely competitive and his reviews online were stellar. The days Kraft Fencing committed to build were the 2 rainiest days in December. There were flash flood warnings posted on both of those days and still, Casey and Roman showed up and went to work. I felt bad but they had top notch rain gear and smiles on their faces. They and their crew showed up at 7:30am both days and just got after the job. The craftsmanship is very impressive. They use screws instead of nails, the posts are beefier than the standard 4x4 post, and they use clear cedar in all the wood work except for the posts. The most impressive thing we experiened with Casey and his company was how he and his crew responded to a mistake that was made. He listened to our concern, gave us a few options to rectify the mistake, made sure both my wife and I would be happy with the work around, and then went about his business and made it right (without any additional charge). What a fantastic business he runs and what an ethical guy he is. I give him a 10/10 recommendation if you are looking to get a new fence installed. Brendan H. Great price”

“Kraft fencing did a great job installing our aluminum fence. It was a big job and a difficult yard to fence, as there were multiple changes in elevation. However, the fence looks great, and it was completed quickly. 10/10 recommend”

Response from Brandon Kraft (Owner):

“Thanks so much, Christopher! I’m so glad that you are pleased with your fence!”
